camp

Last week we went to  Coopers Beach.                      Then we went to the Beach across the road and 
Before we got to camp we went fishing                     had a sandcastle battle. We came 2nd place but
on the wharf and I caught 2 fish.                                                 it was still fun.

After camp we went back to school and did fish collage art. I did a jellyfish and I liked my art.

We have been working on answering basic facts questions quickly and instantly.
I should be working on Stage 5.

I am at Stage 4. I got 33 out of 60.

Pet Day Poem

      Today is our schools pet day. We made vaseline saucers using flower petals. Here is my saucer.

Greats and Grands

on the 25th of October. we had Greats and Grand day. my grandparents came along. we did performances and dancing. we had a delicious morning tea and played games. here is a poem I wrote for my grandparent.

At the end of this term we did our handwriting sample.
we had to use our capital and lower case letters and write a sentence about the science fair . What I like from handwriting is writing the sentence about the science fair, because it was so much fun.  I could be better at forming my letters.

Garden to table

Today we weeded in the garden. We were weeding everything as well as planting some new seeds. When we has finished in the garden,we had a picnic on the field. My favourite food were the fritters. That is why garden to table is the best.

Science fair

Yesterday we had our school science fair. My science investigation was about Volcanoes.

Balloon Hovercraft

This week we did an experiment called Balloon Hovercraft. We have learnt how to write scientific reports.

B E G I N N I N G	TITLE	Balloon Hovercraft
	QUESTION	How does a hovercraft hover?
	HYPOTHESIS	I predict that its not gonna fly.

M I D D L E	EQUIPMENT  AND MATERIALS:	A disk. A bottle cap. And a balloon
	PROCEDURE:	Step 1: Glue the bottle cap over the CD hole. Step 2:  Blow up the balloon. When it is fully inflated twist the end so no air comes out. Step 3: Stretch the balloon over the end of the bottle cap. Step 4: Open up the cap and place the CD on the surface. Step 5: Untwist balloon and let go.
	OBSERVATIONS/RESULTS:	The balloon’s air was reducing the friction on the table and moving the disk.

CONCLUSION:

The air from the balloon creates a cushion of moving air between the disc and the CD and reduces the friction across the surface.

Bridge

We have been learning about forces and how they help shape the sort of bridges
that we build.  

We learned that there are three main types of bridge design; beam, truss and
suspension.  Using this knowledge we designed and built our own bridges.

Miss Fletcher set the challenge that our bridges had to be 30 cm long and strong
enough to hold an object.

In my group there were Andrew and Shiah.
We used cardboard and egg cartons  to build our bridge.

Here is a photo of our bridge. 
What I like best about our bridge is that it worked and it could hold a weight.

Why gaming is bad for you?

Did you know that gaming is bad for you?  Well let me introduce you to games. Games are things that you download on your phone or ipad or tablet.

Firstly, gaming is bad for you because if you play games for long amounts of time then your brain might get hurt, you only focus on playing the game nothing else.

Secondly if you play games for too long then your body might get lazy. You might not be able to stand very well and then you will need to have to roll. Your body needs exercise and fresh air. Also your body needs sleep so don’t stay up late gaming.

Finally, gaming can hurt your eyes when you blink. If you play games in a dark room your eyes might go blurry or hurt. You might get into playing and then when your mum or dad opens the curtains your eyes might get hurt. You could also affect your eyesight and need glasses.

I think that is why gaming is bad for you. Watch Youtube instead.

Maths Book

For maths this week we read a book called one is a snail ten is a crab. We then worked in groups to  create our own version. My book is called 1 is a snake 10 is a lobster. Here is my book. I hope you like it. 


 

Moon rover lander

For science we made a Moon rover lander using only a paper cup, paper, cellotape and straws.  We were given the task of making our Moon rover land softly onto our Moon landscape so that our marsh-mellow astronauts did not fly out.

What I like best about my Moon rover is the cup 

What I needed to modify on my Moon lander rover was: I had to make a new one out of tape, a cup, straws and paper


One thing  I learned about landing on the Moon it has SAND ):

I find subtraction easy.

We sketched our bean plants that we grew in class. We then wrote words around the outside to describe the bean plant. We had to use these words to write a piece of descriptive writing. We then cut out our picture and glued it on to your writing. Here is my writing.
